Welcome to my personal webpage

I currently conduct research on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can benefit future electricity systems. Electrification if combined with power generation solely from renewable power sources can be of a major impact in the try to stop climate change. However, renewable generation comes at the cost of increasing volatility which must be managed by current and future electricity markets intelligently. My research interests focus on multi-agent systems, game-theory and learning.

  • Jan. 2017 My paper "SLA-Mechanisms for Electricity Trading under Volatile Supply and Varying Criticality of Demand" has been accepted for publication as an extended abstract in the Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS2017).
  • Oct. 2016 An extended abstract of my last paper "Incentivizing Intelligent Customer Behavior in Smart-Grids: A Risk-Sharing Tariff & Optimal Strategies" was accepted for publication on the proceedings of BNAIC 2016 in Amsterdam.

    SLP-Demand_Decomposition_Tool

    The tool can load an arbitrary electricity standard load profile from a csv file, it can then generate synthetic data in any scale, for the discrete, or continuous cases.

  • Sep. 2015 My paper "A Multi-Scale Energy Demand Model suggests sharing Market Risks with Intelligent Energy Cooperatives" was accepted for publication on the proceedings of ISGT-Asia 2015 an IEEE Power and Energy Society International Conference (IEEE-PES).
  • Mar. 2015 My paper "Novelty Search for Soft-Robotic Space Exploration" was accepted for publication on the proceedings of GECCO 2015.
  • Feb. 2015 I accepted a full-time position at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam as a PhD. candidate.
  • Dec. 2014 I successfully defended my master thesis with title "Evolution of Soft-Robots by Novelty Search" at the University of Amsterdam.
  • Sep. 2013 My paper "Orientation Finding using a Grid based Visual Compass" was accepted for publication on the proceedings of BNAIC 2013.
  • Curriculum Vitae

    I was born in Athens, in October 1988. I am from Evia, which is a beautiful island located in the middle part of Greece.

    I graduated from Technical University of Crete in Greece with a 5-year diploma in Electronic and Computer Engineering. In 2012 I completed my diploma thesis in the subject of multi-agent behavior and strategy coordination for the RoboCup Simulation League.

    I received my Masters of Science degree after completing a two-years master studies at University of Amsterdam in the subject of artificial Intelligence in December 2014. During my master studies I worked as a teaching assistant at University of Amsterdam, and as an intern at VicarVision, a computer vision company located in Amsterdam. I was also a member of Dutch Nao Team of University of Amsterdam, participating in two RoboCup competitions.

    My master thesis, "Evolution of Soft-Robots by Novelty Search", was accepted for publication at GECCO 2015 in Madrid. This work was a cooperation between University of Amsterdam and the Advanced Concepts Team at the European Space Agency, where I worked for three months as an intern.

    Since February 2015 I hold a PhD candidate position at the Intelligent Systems Group at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam, working on Intelligent solutions for future electricity markets.
